I first met Susie & Lindsay on January 28 2017. I was super excited when I got their inquiry that they wanted to meet with me to discuss their wedding because it would be my first same sex marriage wedding. As a photographer I have my own check list (I'm not saying they are just a check off my list but ill get back to this) I want to be able to capture everyone! I want to be able to capture real life moments, real life couples/families/people, no matter race, body type, sexuality. I want it ALL. I feel like I wouldn't be able to fully call my self a "Lifestyle Photographer" if I wasn't truly capturing all life styles, also because I support Gays 100% and this is close to home for me.
We met at one of my favorite bars/restaurant and I knew it was gonna be a great night lol. When people inquire about weddings I let them know that we can meet for coffee or at a chill restaurant over drinks because honestly some people don't want coffee at night, some have had a long day at work, or just because a nice cold beer always sounds delicious. I knew it was gonna be great because they agreed to drinks, HELL YEAH! We talked about their life, their family, their relationship, how people treated them, how they proposed and I pretty much feel in love with them as a couple and as people. I got hired by them and I was super excited!
Their package came with a engagement session but I also had a project going on at the time so I ended up seeing them twice before the wedding to capture their love. The first time was at their home for a in home lifestyle session and its was the most chill, raw candid session I have done. Not to mention their dog Chevy was there and he was the icing on the cake lol. Their second session took place at the shops of legacy, very urban and yet again raw.
Their wedding was set to take place November 9th 2017, then it changed to the 10th, then the 11th lol. I was freaking out because I had already booked a wedding for the 11th (a Saturday) so at this point both had paid a deposit...I was freaking out. I didn't know what to do. Could I hire a second assistant? I was freaking out! Luckily it worked out fine and the first wedding was a very small intimate wedding and it ended at 4. Susie & Lindsay's wedding would start at 4 so that would of worked out perfectly.
I got some sad news from the girls letting me know that they had a death In the family and had to push back the wedding once again. I know how hard that must of been and I know no one wants to think about a celebration with a grieving heart.
They contacted me during the holidays to let me know that there was a date set yet again and it was March 10th 2018.I joked a lot with them telling them that it felt like the wedding of the centrury since it seemed like we waited forever for this wedding to happen lol.
The date finally came and I got to attend their wedding last Saturday to capture all kinds of love, kisses and emotions... also some pretty bad ass dance moves lol.
Ive gotten to know these two for a year and I am beyond happy for them. Not only because you can tell they love each other dearly but because they have every right to be together and they have proven that. Lets face it this world is not nice at times, people don't mind their business, and get butt hurt with things that shouldn't even offend them. But for them to prove every one wrong and show the world that they are in love, that this is them, that they are not gonna let any one tell them they cant be together, love each other, get married, buy a house together and have babies is honestly the reason why I am glad THEY were the ones I got to check off my list. I'm honored to know them. I'm excited for their future. I'm waiting patiently for that text message that tells me that Lindsay is pregnant. I hope to see so much more of them and their family.
Love is love and love does win. It won on March 10th 2018, it has been winning and it will continue to win. So suck it up and just love the fact that people love each other no mater what. Lets make the WORLD great again.
I'm glad to share a little bit of their sweet back yard wedding.
